As its name implies, Upper Valley Grill and General Store provides a wide variety of dry goods, chilled beverages, hot coffee and home-cooked meals in the upper valley along Rt 302. It close proximity to four Vermont State Parks make it a valuable resource for all kinds of camping needs along with gas pumps to fuel your trips.
My first introduction to the UVG was snowmobiling from Groton's Butterfield Parking lot. The trail leads right to the store giving riders an important fuel stop or warm break. They owners and employees help support the Vermont Area Snowmobile Trails (V.A.S.T.) system in the Groton State Forest.
I have always enjoyed stopping at the Upper Valley Grill in all seasons and am super happy they are in business! -

We were camping at Ricker Pond for our girls camping weekend! After having Chinese for lunch back in my hometown, we started the drive to the campsite, setting everything up and checking out the pond. I decided it was time for dinner, my mom isn't one for a real dinner so hadn't packed anything for that night!
I walked in with doubts, I walk out satisfied and content! I got a cheeseburger with fries and a slice of apple pie. My mom got potato skins and a slice of blueberry pie. Everything was surprisingly good. I liked my burger more than some other burgers from good 4-5 star yelp reviewed restaurants! The potato skins were deep fried and loaded with cheese and bacon. It came with a perfect amount of sour cream! The pies tasted homemade, but we regretted turning down her offer to warm them up for us! Why we did that I don't know.
Our service was really pleasant and seemed to like her job! That's always nice to see. The man that ran the cash register was friendly and sociable, a pretty cool fellow.
The store itself has a lot to offer in the little space it takes up, pretty typical convenience store sort of variety. They also have some homemade ice cream in a cooler called Slick's. Never had it or even heard of it, just a little thing I noticed. -

Don't miss out on this friendly, little place in Groton Vt. Home cooked food the way you want it, friendly workers, supplies for campers, travelers and home-Also the Information Center for Northeastern Vt events and visitors.
